How we can help

“We hear stories on a daily basis of clients restricting their lifestyle and food choices to accommodate debilitating or uncomfortable gut symptoms which are often grouped under the umbrella term ‘IBS’. There is minimal investigation into the underlying causes behind these symptoms - instead, there is an acceptance that they are, first, ‘normal’, and secondly, not to be helped.

A massively under-appreciated and under-tested aspect of gut health is the many steps involved in digestion—from stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and bile formation to microbiome imbalances and bacterial overgrowth. These systems are rarely explored in conventional care, yet they play a vital role in healthy digestion and are often at the root of persistent symptoms.

We take a functional, root-cause approach focused on supporting the gut in a sequential order. Using advanced testing, we assess where your digestive system is out of balance and develop a step-by-step plan for delivering long-term relief. These imbalances are often unique to each client, so our clinicians build fully personalised strategies aligned to your body’s needs.”

How the gut affects the body

Your gut is not Las Vegas - what happens in the gut does not stay there. Roughly 70% of your immune system lives in the gut, which means skin issues, food sensitivities and even autoimmune symptoms often begin there. Similarly, gut support is vital in the management of mental health symptoms such as low mood, anxiety and brain fog because of the interplay between the gut and the brain.

Around 50% of those with IBS are also diagnosed with depression, generalised anxiety disorder, or both - evidencing the deep overlap between digestive health and mood, and the need to treat the gut and brain together. By addressing the root cause, we don't just improve your gut - but also you overall health.

Frequently asked questions

  • IBS is an umbrella term that can include a wide range of underlying drivers such as gut microbiome imbalances, altered gut motility, food intolerances, stress-related gut-brain signalling, or bacterial overgrowth.

This is where personalised nutrition and lifestyle can truly support better outcomes. Peach assesses each individual carefully for underlying drivers as well as symptoms. In addition, functional gut testing helps rule out or identify specific imbalances for quicker results.

  • Gut dysbiosis refers to an imbalance in the gut microbiome residing in the colon (large intestine), while SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) occurs when bacteria that should be in the large intestine migrate into the small intestine. Both can cause symptoms such as bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea and/or constipation), and food sensitivities.

Symptoms alone can’t reliably distinguish between dysbiosis and SIBO. Functional gut testing, combined with a detailed health and symptom history, helps identify whether an imbalance or bacterial overgrowth is present and guides a more targeted approach.

  • Gut health testing is always personalised, but may include:

    • Comprehensive functional stool tests like GI360 by Doctors Data to assess the gut microbiome, digestion, inflammation and gut barrier function

    • Targeted blood or nutrient tests where appropriate

These tests help us move beyond guesswork and understand why symptoms are occurring, allowing nutrition and supplement recommendations to be tailored to your specific gut imbalances.

  • Diet can significantly reduce bloating and gas for many people, but it’s rarely about simply cutting out foods. Bloating can be driven by multiple factors including gut bacteria imbalances, digestion issues, gut motility, stress, hormones, or food intolerances.

A personalised nutrition approach focuses on identifying root causes, supporting digestion, and improving gut function rather than relying on long-term restriction. For many clients, this leads to sustainable symptom relief rather than short-term fixes.

  • This varies depending on the individual, symptom severity, and underlying causes. Some people notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may need several months of consistent support to see meaningful changes.

Gut health is not an overnight fix - sustainable results come from addressing root causes, supporting the gut microbiome, and making gradual, realistic dietary and lifestyle changes.
