Weight loss medications change more than your weight
“Weight loss medication is powerful, and for many women it’s genuinely life-changing. But it can affect how your body absorbs nutrients, your liver and gallbladder function, digestion and more. That’s where having personalised nutritionist support underpinned by advanced functional testing can be really helpful - to make sure you’re supporting your health as your body goes through this change”
- Peach Founder, Flora Budenberg (mBANT, CNHC, IFMCP)
What’s happening in your body on GLP-1
Weight loss medication can create changes you can’t always see or feel - but they matter for long-term health
When you eat less, you might take in fewer vitamins and minerals. This can lead to deficiencies in iron, B12, Vitamin D, Zinc and others.
Nutrient intake
Gallbladder health
Rapid weight loss and GLP-1 medications can increase the risk of gallstones and other gallbladder issues in some people, so monitoring changes can be helpful.
Digestion & gut health
GLP-1s slow your digestion - it’s part of how they work. They can also cause bloating, nausea and change in bowel habits.
Body composition
Weight loss can include muscle mass loss alongside fat. The right nutrition can help protect your strength and energy.
Energy and mood
Changes in blood sugar levels, calorie intake and nutrient status can all affect how you feel day to day - including energy, mood and focus.

Frequently asked questions
-
No. Peach is a nutritional therapy clinic, not a prescribing service. We work alongside your existing prescriber to make sure the rest of your health is supported while you’re on medication. Think of us as the nutritional arm of your care team.
-
Most GLP-1 prescribers focus on safety checks - is the medication causing any immediate harm? That’s important, but it’s not the same as understanding how your nutrient levels, gut health, gallbladder function etc. are being affected. Our blood panel looks at a broader picture, and our practitioners interpret the results through a functional nutrition lens to give you a personalised plan - not just a report.
-
If you do decide to take a blood test, this requires a venous blood draw, which can be done at one of our partner phlebotomists across the UK. We’ll arrange everything for you after your discovery call.
-
Absolutely. In fact, getting a baseline picture of your health before starting medication is really useful - it means we can track changes over time and ensure your body is being supported throughout the process.
-
Yes. Our support is relevant for all GLP-1 receptor agonists, including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy), tirzepatide (Mounjaro), and liraglutide (Saxenda).
